Welcome to the latest edition of the Local Authority brief which aims to keep you abreast of all the latest legal developments in the industry.

We hope you find the Brief informative and would be pleased to hear from you. Please get in touch by contacting Mark Whittaker or any of the contributors if you would like to discuss in more detail any of the issues raised.

Along with a round-up of recent case reports, we consider the initial impact of the Civil Justice Reforms, we have an article on social care debt recovery, and also an interview with Rawdon Phillips – Insurance and Risk Manager, East Sussex County Council.

The DWF briefings continue in our Birmingham office. The sessions will provide informal training on the latest legal issues affecting insurers, brokers, health and safety and risk managers from both the public and private sector. Running from September 2013 until June 2014, each briefing will start at 1pm and finish at 2pm, including a Q&A session. A buffet lunch will follow, allowing you to network with your industry peers.
